Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik returned from a stint of acting work in South Africa on a Bollywood movie and then said he wasn't about to increase his acting commitments.
Malik appeared in cameo parts on the movie “Victory”, along side Pakistan team-mates Kamran Akmal, Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Sohail Tanvir in Johannesburg. The movie is about a young cricketer who becomes distracted by the high life.
“It was more sort of more cricket than work, so it was fun and there were no problems because we didn't have to do much,” Malik told Cricket Nirvana. “It is a good story based on the life of a cricketer who gets fame and money early in his life and then gets distracted.
“It is a sort of a message to budding players who see only the bright side of being a cricketer and forget the pains and problems in being a cricketer.”
He added, when asked if he would increase his movie commitments: “It was just because we did not have cricket, we worked. Otherwise we don't get much time.
“It is something which needs full time and can only be thought about when you are not playing, or have retired.”
Pakistan have been starved of top-level cricket this year and face the prospect of going a whole calendar year without a Test match.
